Rules for writing chemical symbols of an element is..The first letter should be in capital and second should be in small.. Generally symbols of element is made up of only 2 letters
Eg:Magnesium -Mg
Copper-Cu
Iron-Fe

the first word of the name of the element will be capital. example - Carbon = C
some chemical names will be written in their latin names e.g. Iron = Fe means ferrum
