Given:  S(4,10), Q (12,6) and S-T-Q.

T (6, 9)

To Find :   Ratio in which T (6, 9) divides the segment SQ

Solution:

S-T-Q.

T is in between S and Q hence T divided internally S and Q

Assume that Ratio is  k :  1

S(4,10), Q (12,6)

T (6, 9)

6 = ( 12k + 4 * 1)/(k + 1)   or   9 ( 6k + 10 * 1)/(k + 1)

=> 6k + 6 = 12k + 4

=> 6k = 2

=> k = 2/6

=> k = 1/3

k : 1

1 /3 : 1

= 1 : 3

Ratio in which T (6, 9) divides the segment SQ is  1 :3
