Let cost of a chair and a table be Rs X and Rs Y.






Cost of 5 chairs + Cost of 4 tables = 5600




5X + 4Y = 5600----------(1)



And,




Cost of 4 chairs + Cost of 3 tables = 4340





4X + 3Y = 4340 -----------(2)



From equation (1) we get,



5X + 4Y = 5600




5X = ( 5600 - 4Y )



X = ( 5600 - 4Y /5 ) -----------(3)



Putting the value of X in equation (2)



4X + 3Y = 4340




4 × ( 5600 - 4Y /5 ) + 3Y = 4340






22400 - 16y /5 + 3y = 4340




22400 - 16y + 15y = 21700




-y = 21700 - 22400


-y = -700



y = 700



Putting Y = 700 ,in (3)



X = ( 5600 - 4Y/5)



X = ( 5600 - 4 × 700/5) = 5600-2800/5




X = 560.



Cost of a chair = X = Rs 560


And,


Cost of a table = Y = 700.
