The writer says that "Saheb is no longer his own master" because of his new job. Previously he used to roam about with his plastic bag without any restrictions or burden. Now he has to work for the tea stall owner carrying the canister which belongs to his master. He used to carry his own bag and now he has to carry his master's canister.

Answer :

"Saheb is no longer his own master"–

Saheb firstly was a rag picker and he didn't had to listen someone else's orders. Saheb had to start working in a tea shop. There he had to work according to the tea shop owner, his master. He had to loose his carefree nature and had to carry his master's a heavy tin canister instead of his light plastic bag. The canister was his masters' and the plastic bag was his own.

"Mukesh insists on being his own master"–

Mukesh's family worked in a bangle industry. But, Mukesh didn't wanted to continue working in the bangle industry. He wanted to become a car mechanic. He didn't allow the realities of his life to kill his dreams. Though, he is forced to work as child labour in bangle making industry to which his family belongs, he dreams of being a car mechanic.
