Answer: 0.75 kg
Step-by-step explanation:
Since, the ratio of the water is to pulp was 4 : 1,
Let the initial water in the grapes = 4 x and the initial pulp in the grapes = 1 x
And, after crushing the ratio between the water and pulp = 3 : 2
Let the final amount of water = 3 y and final amount of pulp = 2 y
⇒ Final amount of grapes = 3 y + 2 y = 5 y
Since, in the crushing the weight of the pulp will not be affected,
⇒ 1 x = 2 y
⇒ x = 2 y
Hence, the initial amount of water in the grapes = 4 x = 4×2y = 8y
Also, the initial amount of the pulp = 1 x = 2 y
According to the question,
The total weight of the grapes initially = 1.5 kg
⇒ 8 y + 2 y = 1.5 kg
⇒ 10 y = 1.5
⇒ y = 0.15
Hence, the total amount of the crushed grapes =5 y= 5×0.15= 0.75 kg
