let the age of Sachin be 'x' let the age of Rahul be 'y'

x=y+7.................(1)

x:y=9:7

7x=9y........(2)

substitute x=y+7 in equation no. 2

7×y+7=9y

7y+7=9y

9y-7y=7

2y=7

2y=7

y=7÷2

y=3.5

Substitute y=3.5 in equation no. 1

x=y+7

x=3.5+7

x=10.5

Age of Sachin is 10 years and 5 months.
