India faced three major challenges in the nation building just after the independence wherein the power of authority and governance transferred from the Britishers to the Indian leaders. here are they:-

1.  Integration of the princely states:-

  • India consisted of 565 princely states that required to be unified.
  • Initially some princely states like Hyderabad, Junagarh, Manipur declined to join Indian union.
  • There was diversity of cultures and in the society.

2. Establish Democracy:-

  • it was needed to guarantee fundamental rights to all people.
  • it was not fair to rule such a vast number of people with a monarchial form. henceforth it was necessary to form a democratic framework.
  • after India got its independence it was indispensable to form a welfare state.

3. Ensure development and well being of citizens:-

  • equality among individuals was required.
  • people at the point of time were facing challenges like poverty, inequality, underdevelopment which needed to be addressed.
  • the government had to ensure the equal development of people in every dimension pertaining to economic development and eradication of poverty.
