Answer:

The major sources of starch are cereals like rice, wheat, maize and root vegetables like potatoes. To know the presence of starch in any given sample of food, the iodine test can be performed. In this, iodine solution is used. In this, few drops of iodine solution is added to the food sample. If starch is present in a food item, it will turn blue-black colour. If starch is absent in a food item, it will remain brown in colour.

Explanation:

There have been many changes in our food such as:

(i) Earlier people used to eat a variety of foods like bajra, jowar, wheat etc., but now we are eating mainly wheat.

(ii) Earlier the old seeds were stored and grown in the nest year. Now a days new variants of seeds are grown and their products are quite different in taste.

(iii) Earlier the foods were eaten in very simple forms, not very much spicy and overheated.

(iv) Earlier, the traditional methods of irrigation (moat, canal), ploughing etc., were used whereas now a days, new methods of irrigation (sprinkler, drip), ploughing are being used.
