It does not drop the blood pressure rather it raises the blood pressure of a patient.

Excess amount of sodium intake causes vasoconstriction of blood vessels which increase  the blood pressure on the wall of arteries resulting in rupture of blood vessel causing heart  diseases.

It can also effect the eye or the kidney as it is not able to filter huge amount of  blood.

Kidney failure is quite possible in this case.
