Given:

If Simran gives one marble to Sam, both of them will have equal number of marbles

If Sam gives one marble to Simran, Simran will have double the number of marbles than Sam

To find:

Number of marbles both have in their hands

Calculation:

Let Sam have 'x' number of marbles and Simran have 'y' number of marbles. According to the given data,

=> x+1 = y-1

=> x+2 = y             ...(1)

=> 2(x-1) = y+1

=> 2x = y+3          ...(2)

By solving equation (1) & (2)

=> x+2 = y

=> x+2 = 2x-3

=> x = 5

=> y = 7

Sam has 5 marbles and Simran has 7 marbles
