4x-5y+16 =0 ....... (i)

And

2x+y-6 = 0.........(ii)

from this we observe that RHS are equal

so,

4x-5y+16 = 2x+y-6

4x-2x-5y-y= -6-16

2x-6y = -22

2(x-3y)=-22

x-3y=-22/2

x-3y= -11

4x - 5y + 16 = 0

= 4x - 5y = -16 ---------------> (i)

2x + y - 6 = 0

= 2x + y = 6 ---------------> (ii)

From equation (i)

4x - 5y = -16

=> 4x = -16 + 5y

=> x = -16 + 5y

4

Putting the value of x in equation (ii)

2x + y = 6

=2 × ( -16 + 5y) + y = 6

4

= -16 + 5y +2y = 6

2

= -16 + 9y = 6 × 2

= 7y = 12 + 16

=> 7y = 28

=> y = 28/7

=> y = 4

Putting the value of y in equation (ii)

2x + y = 6

=> 2x + 4 = 6

=> 2x = 6 - 4

=> 2x = 2

=> x = 2/2

=> x = 1

Therefore,

x = 1

y = 4

Hope it helps.....
