Samosa contain half as many as they are in one french fries. Total calories in french fries and samosa is 450. Set up an linear equation.

Is the linear equation x +y =450 or is it something else?

the linear equation here is not x+y=450 but it is x +2x = 450 as the french fries have double the calories. solution:

x+2x=450
x+2x=3x=450
x(samosa)=450/3=150
2x(french fries)=150*2=300

Nikitha06: but it is supposed to contain x and y as I am supposed to draw a graph

x+1\2x=450
so 3x/2=450
so 450x2=3x
so 900=3x
so x=30
