Explanation:

A sanctuary is a sacred place, like a temple, in its original meaning. By using such places as a sanctuary, the phrase has been used for any place of protection in extension. The secondary use can be defined as a human sanctuary, a safe place for men, such as a political sanctuary; and a non-human sanctuary, such as a sanctuary for animals or plants.

For example - A true sanctuary prohibits practices that place the animals in an unnecessarily stressful situation. In addition to caring for the animals, one of the most significant sanctuary missions is to educate the public. Most sanctuaries main goal is to change the way non-human animals are thought about and viewed by humans.
