Sanjana has decided to buy a car. She has to choose between a diesel car and a petrol car. The diesel car costs ₹15600 more than the petrol car. However, it can travel 13 kilometres per litre, whereas the petrol car can only travel 12 kilometres per litre. Also, diesel costs ₹44.20 per litre, and petrol costs ₹72 per litre. If she buys a diesel car, how many kilometres must she drive before the savings in fuel covers the extra price of the diesel car?

Answer:

6733km

Step-by-step explanation:

We need to know the LCM of 12 and 13, which is 156

If she travels by diesel car, it will cost her $574.6

If she travels by petrol car, it will cost her 936

She can save 361.4 by travelling 156km

She has to cover around 6733km to save $15600
