hey friend here is your answer

sanjeev ate 1/6 of cake.. then now sanjeev have the part of the cake = 1-1/6 part = 5/6part

Now again he gave 1/5 of the cake to his friend then 1/5 of 5/6 = 5/6 × 1/5 = 1/6

then now he have part of the cake = 5/6 - 1/6 = 2/3______answer

hence 2/3 part of the cake he keep

Answer:

The fraction of the cake did he keep is 2/3.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given:

Sanjeev ate 1/6 of a cake. he gave 1/5 of the remainder to his friend .he kept the rest of the cake.

To find:

the fraction of the cake did he keep

Step 1

Sanjeev has a total 6 parts of cakes

Sanjeev ate = (1/6)x = x/6

then remaining 5 parts of the cake

remain = x - (1/6)x = 5x/6

Step 2

So he gave 1/5th part to his friend 1 part give him.

Remaining 4 part of cakes out of 6

keep = x - (x/6 + x/6)

4/6 = x - (2x/6)

= x - x/3

= 2x/3

Therefore, the fraction of the cake did he keep is 2/3.
