Let the no. of books purchased by Sanvi be "x".

So,

The cost of each book = Rs. [120/x]

the no. of book that shanvi will have (x+3)

so the cost of each book will be

[120/(x+3)]

by the equation 1 and 2

[120/x] - [120/(x+3)] = 2

120 [(x+3-x)/x(x+3)] = 2

60 [3/(x^2+3x)] = 1

180 = x² + 3x

x^2 + 3x -180 = 0

x² + 15x - 12x - 180 = 0

x(x+15)-12(x+15)

(x-12) (x+15)

x = -15

x= 12

so The cost of each book = 120/x = 120/12 = Rs. 10
