Sand particles are usually bigger than the particles of salt. So to remove ammonium chloride(NH4Cl), sublimation process can be carried out, since NH4Cl is a sublimable compound. Then the mixture is now a mixture of sand and salt. Solvent extraction process can be done to separate the sand, since salt is soluble in water. After mixing salt in water, making it a homogenous mixture with sand, we perform filtration to separate the salt solution and sand.
Therefore, 3 separation techniques must be used to separate a mixture of NH4Cl, sand and salt. They are:-

1. Sublimation
2. Solvent extraction
3. Filtration
