Given : Sarah rows in a stream in the north direction for 6 miles.

She turns her boat in the left direction and rows for another 10 miles.

She again turns, this time, in the right direction and rows for 3 miles.

To Find : In which direction is she with respect to her starting point?

Solution:

          NORTH

WEST               EAST

          SOUTH

North  = 6 miles

Left of North is West and  rows for another 10 miles.

West = 10 miles

Right of West  is North  and  rows for 3 miles.

North = 3 miles

North = 6 + 3 = 9 Miles

West = 10 miles

Hence She is in North West Direction from Her Starting  point

She is about 42° North of West
