The Eastern Ghats lie to the West of the Coromandel Coast and therefore Sarika’s location is closer to the Eastern Ghats.

Coromandel coast is the region along the south-eastern coast of India. It has the Bay of Bengal to its East and the Eastern Ghats to its West. The Utkal plains are to its North.

The Coromandel coast extends over an area of 22,800 square kilometres, across the South Indian states of Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh.

• They run in the north-south direction.
• They are a series of detached hills between the Mahanadi river and the Vaigai river.
• The northern part is 200 km wide while the southern part is only 100 km wide.

Western ghat:

• They rise from the Western coastal plain.

• The Coromandel Coast falls in the rain shadow of the Western Ghats and to the west of the Eastern Ghats which receives good rainfall during the summer .
