Given : Sarita went to her college by an auto rickshaw and returned by cycle rickshaw and found that it looked it took 20 minutes more than the time taken while going by auto rickshaw, although the distance travelled in both the cases is the same i.e, 5 km.

the ratio of average speed of auto rickshaw and cycle rickshaw is 3:1,

To Find :  average speed of cycle rickshaw

Solution:

Distance = Speed x Time

Speed of cycle rickshaw  = A  km//hr

Speed of Auto  rickshaw  = 3A  km//hr

Distance = 5 km

Time taken by Cycle rickshaw = 5/A  hr

Time taken by Auto rickshaw = 5/3A  hr

5/A  - 5/3A  = 20/60

=> 5/A -  5/3A  = 1/3

=> 15  -  5   = A

=> 10 = A

average speed of cycle rickshaw is 10 km/hr
