Satellite is revolving from west to east around equitorial orbit. So, it rotates in same direction as earth.

Let t1 and t2 are time periods of Earth and satellite.

We know t1 = 24 hours

Every 8 hours they meet

so, 8 = 2* pi / ( v1 - v2)

8 = 2 * pi*/ (2*Pi/t1 -2*pi/t2)

8 = 1/ (1/24 - 1/t2)

t2= 8

Therefore, time period of satellite is 8 hours.
