Saving Electricity and power is a very important thing to do. It is the motto for all of us in our nation in today's tough times.
Our nation has been facing tremendous shortage of power since decades. And, on top of it, there has been an exponential increase in the demand for electricity. The use of electronic gadgets and domestic appliances has gone over the roof in the last two decades. So did the consumption of electricity.
Many of us may not know or remember that there were very frequent and long power cuts in many states during the previous decade. Not long ago many small scale industries had to shut down due to lack of sufficient and regular power from electricity boards. The cost of a unit was too expensive for them. Rural people had tough times without power. Farmers had not enough power for irrigation.
So our immediate duty is to save power. We can switch of electric and electronic gadgets and appliances when not in use. Same with the lights and fans.
Do you know it takes a lot of electricity to pump water to our residences by municipality? So wasting water means wasting electricity. Same way wasting fuel or food too implies wasting power, as electricity is consumed to produce any product. So friends I implore you not to waste anything at all, even if you feel it is too much to ask.
Saving electricity is electricity generated. So without too much effort and any extra cost we will have more electricity. I am for Saving power. And, I hope you too will join me in that.

It will do good to add the total production of electricity in GigaWatts of India or your state. Also, the shortage in terms of demand and consumption that we face. We can include a line on scheduled power cuts and load shedding.
We all know that electricity is the greatest boon of science to us. We cannot imagine our world without electricity. All the progress in the modern world, all Industries, transportation, communication etc, almost everything depends on electricity. Our gadgets and machines will become useless if there is no electricity. We forget that a large part of it is produced by using fossil fuels. Wastage of electricity means wastage of our precious resource
We can save electricity easily by following some simple instructions. Instead of bulbs we should use CFL in our homes and offices. CFL use less electricity than bulbs. We should always be careful against wastage and switch off all our lights and fans etc. when not in use. Using star rating appliances can also save a lot of electricity.
