Saving Fuel for Better Health and Environment

Blue skies and green grass; we cannot have as long as we use excess of gas! The aftermath and fallout of the excessive use of fossil fuels has already affected man adversely. Our environment is like a gigantic balloon of transparent layer of life-supporting pure gases in which we have our being. When this balloon was created it was filled with pure wholesome gases. However, man has filled this pure balloon with black and poisonous smoke by the burning fossil fuels. Man, the foolish and reckless creature, seems to have forgotten that his very existence depends on this balloon.

Man's perception about the indispensability of the environment must change, otherwise the balloon will burst and his own existence will end with it. It is a known fact that carbon dioxide, released during fossil fuel emission, is one of the primary gas responsible for global warming. Rising temperature of earth has resulted in abnormal thawing of polar ice caps; flooding of low lying areas and rise in sea levels. In such conditions planet Earth might face some serious consequences in near future.

Apart from CO2, many other toxic gases such as Sulphur dioxide, nitrogen oxides, arsenic, lead, cadmium, and mercury emissions damage not only the environment, but also pose serious health hazards such as asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disorder or COPD and lung cancer to people. Long-term exposure may increase respiratory infections in general population. Fuel conservation is a must to keep health and environmental hazards at bay.

Sagacious and frugal use of fossil fuels is the direst need of the hour. Replacing fossil fuels with clean fuels is the only solution to the problem. People and the Governments of all the countries must start using renewable sources of energy.

The present rate at which the fossil fuels are being used is quite alarming. There won't be left anything for the coming generations. Now the question arises; "Are we to leave a planet totally devoid of fossil fuels to the coming generations?" We will be called highly selfish generation, if we don't leave fuels for the future generations. We need to put our acts together. We must follow the principles of sustainable development. After all it is our responsibility to bequeath a healthy and prosperous planet. Being parents it is our moral responsibility. Let's take care of our planet and use the fossil fuels wisely and frugally!
