Say some points about function of ribs

They have 3 main jobs: Protection, support and respiration.

1. They enclose and protect the heart and lungs.

2. They provide a strong framework onto which the muscles of the shoulder girdle, chest, upper abdomen and back can attach to.

3. Respiration.

in most tetrapods,ribs surround the chest,enabling the lungs to expand and thus,facilitate breathing by expanding the chest cavity. they serve to protect the lungs and heart, and other internal organs of the thorax. In some animals,specially snakes, ribs may provide support and protection for the entire body
