Schiff’s reagent gives pink color with Acetaldehyde.
Schiff’s reagent, consisting of fuchsin dye solution, decolourized by sulphur dioxide, is used to test aldehydes and ketones.
Aliphatic aldehydes immediately give pink color when tested, Aromatic aldehydes and aliphatic ketones are slow in showing the color effect whereas Aromatic ketones has no color effect.
