An atom is the smallest and complete unit of matter. The atom consists of positively charged protons,neutrally charged neutrons and negative electrons.The protons and neutrons are present in the nucleus of the atom while the electrons revolve around the nucleus in circular paths called orbits.The atom can have many orbits depending on the number of electrons in that atom.
