Scientific name of plant which ‘came to India’ as contaminant with imported ‘wheat and causes pollen allergy’ Parthenium hysterophorus.
In 1950’s when there was complete draught throughout India after independence, the then government had imported wheat form United States of America. This wheat variety was contaminated with weeds called Parthenium hysterophorus.
These weeds have proved to have deleterious effect on the roots of the agricultural and pasture plants thereby causing a great loss in their yield.
