Krebs cycle is also known as Citric acid cycle because it is the first product formed in this cycle and also is regenerated at the end. In this process, acetyl coA obtained during the process of pyuruvate decarboxylation reacts with oxaloacetic acid to form citric acid ( six-carbon compound). Krebs cycle is a sequential process that follows many cyclic steps and results in the oxidation of acetyl coA thus generating energy necessary 1 the survival of the cells. It is a part of cellullar respiration.
