"Sea water cannot be directly used for drinking purpose as it is highly saline. It contains about 3% of dissolved salts which is 30,000 parts per million. But our human body can consume only 500 parts per million of dissolved salts.

Seawater is also not fit for agricultural purpose as the high saline level may result in losing the fertility of the land.In addition, using seawater in crops may lead to plant disorder like chlorosis. Because of these reasons, seawater cannot be used in agriculture."
