second electron gain enthalpy of oxygen is positive this makes the oxide ion unstable..how can we get multiple stable metal oxides if oxides are not supposed to be formed?

though 2nd ionization enthalpy is positive yet we form O 2- ions bcoz the lattice enthalpy of compounds formed by O 2- ions is high nd it compensates the positive ionisation enthalpy
