The mean of new numbers = 40

Given :

  • The Average of 7 numbers is calculated to be 35

  • Each number is increased by 5

To find :

The mean of new numbers

Solution :

Step 1 of 3 :

Find sum of 7 numbers

Here it is given that Average of 7 numbers is calculated to be 35

So the sum

= 35 × 7

= 245

Step 2 of 3 :

Find the sum of 7 new numbers

Since each number is increased by 5

So the sum of 7 new numbers

= 245 + ( 7 × 5 )

= 245 + 35

= 280

Step 3 of 3 :

Find mean of new numbers

Hence the required mean of new numbers

\displaystyle \sf{  =  \frac{280}{7}  }

\displaystyle \sf{  = 40  }
