by phythagorus therom,

AC²=AB²+BC²

AC=√1²+1²

=√2

In ∆ACD,

AC=√2cm

CD=12cm

angle C=90°

by phythagorus therom,

AD²=AC²+CD²

AD²=√2²+12²

=2+144

=146

AD=√146cm
