Baisakhi is a Sikh festival that is celebrated all over the world with great fervor in India. It is celebrated around 13th and 14th April every year, and the zeal of celebration is maximum in the state of Punjab. Baisakhi is a festival to mark the harvesting of the first summer crop or the rabi crops. India is an agricultural country, and its economy is much dependent on the farmers, and Baisakhi is a festival for them. Baisakhi is also remembered for some other significant reasons like the execution of Guru Tegh Bahadur. He was executed because he disagreed with the proposal of the Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb to convert into Islam. This marked the coronation of the tenth Sikh Guru and the formation of Khalsa Panth. The festival marks the ripening of the Ravi crops and their first harvest. It also marks the Sikh new year, and people wish each other a prosperous and happy life with an abundant harvest.

The gurudwaras are decorated gorgeously with flowers and lights. Kirtans are being held to spread peace and love amongst the people and processions known as Nagar Kirtans are arranged.
