Assuming that AB and BC are straight paths without any curves, the total distance traveled will be the sum of both the paths.

Thus, total distance traveled from A to C will be AB + BC = 8 + 6 = 14 cm.

Displacement is the overall change in the position of the body from its starting point to the endpoint.

Displacement (Δs) can be calculated only for straight paths, also with turns, but not for curved paths.

Δs can be calculated as by using the lengths of the distances and by Pythagorean theorem as, A² + B² = C².

Δs = 8² cm + 6² cm = 64 cm + 36 cm = 100 cms.
