Given : seg AE perpendicular side BC,

seg PM perpendicular line BC

AE =12,PM=16

To find : Ar (Δ ABC )  / Ar (Δ PBC )

Solution:

Area of triangle = (1/2) * Base * Height

Ar (Δ ABC ) = (1/2) * BC  * AE

Ar (Δ PBC ) = (1/2) * BC  * PM

Ar (Δ ABC )  / Ar (Δ PBC )   =    (1/2) * BC  * AE /  (1/2) * BC  * PM

=> Ar (Δ ABC )  / Ar (Δ PBC )   =     AE /   PM

=> Ar (Δ ABC )  / Ar (Δ PBC )   =     12  /   16

=> Ar (Δ ABC )  / Ar (Δ PBC )   =   3  /  4

Ar (Δ ABC )  / Ar (Δ PBC )   =   3  /  4
