Self-help means the habit of doing ones work oneself. God has given us intelligence and physical strength. It is our duty to use them properly for our benefit in life. 'God helps them who help themselves'.Self-help is a heroic virtue. It helps in growing one's strength of mind, and building one's self-confidence and character, and it also generates within a determination to go ahead independently towards the goal, without caring to look back for anyone's help.Lives of almost all the great men in the world tell us how they were able to prosper without depending on any­one's help or mercy. A great man believes his own right hand and his own intellect to achieve something great in life.He plans everything beforehand in a methodical way, so that he is not required to depend on anyone's advice or help. He knows himself how to act properly and how to get things done. So it does not become difficult for him to raise high in life.It cannot be denied that in the way of one's life, there may come sometime some failure. But failure is not a disgrace in the life's game. 'Failures are the pillars of success'.So long as a person goes on attempting his efforts repeatedly on a certain thing in order to attain it, he needs not worry much; for success will be his in future. If he does not lose faith in himself, and believes in his own capability of doing things skillfully, he will definitely succeed in life and command respect, confidence and sympathy of others. A bold attitude of self-help can make a man perfect and successful in life.
