let 1st part=A,

then
2nd part=(178-A),

now according to the question, we have,

A+8=2(178-A),

A+8=356-2A,

A+2A=356-8,

3A=348,

A=116,

therefore

1st part=116 ,

2nd part=178-116=62

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

Given :-

178 into two parts so that the first part is 8 less than twice the second part.

To Find :-

Separation.

Solution :-

Let Second part be x

And The First part be 2x – 8

According to the Question,

⇒ x + 2x – 8 = 178

⇒ x + 2x = 178 + 8

⇒ 3x = 186

⇒ x = 186/3

x = 62

First part = 2x – 8

= 2 × 62 – 8

= 124 – 8

= 116

Second part = 62

Hence, The 1st part and 2nd part is 116 and 62.
