Varun's present age = x

swathi's present age = y

given ,

x-7 = 5(y-7) ------(1)

y+3 = 2/5 (x +3)

5y+ 15 = 2x +9

2x = 5y+9 ------- (2)

x = 5y +9/2

substitute x in eq (1)

we get , 2y^2-29y+99=0

solve by quadratic formula to get y=9

sustitute y in (2) to get X = 27 .

therefore varun's age is 27 years and swati's age is 9 years!
