The foundation of Positivism as amethod to study Sociology was propounded by the early sociologists like Herbert Spencer, August Comte etc.

  • They were of the background  where Science dominates the society in field of every study. They want to develop a separate body of knowledge for studying the social dynamics and Social Statics part of the Society.
  • It was the aftermath of period of Renaissance which gave birth to this separate discipline of Sociology by August Comte.
  • He was also considered as "Father of Sociology" and propounded many theories so as to study the dynamics of society at that time.
  • Positivism as a discipline came into effect by the influence of Science itself. The dominance and acceptance of Scientific theories and evidences was popular in the 18th Century.
  • Positivism is based upon the use of "Objectivity " in studying sociology. It has a feature of making inferences which is ot based upon any personal bias and thus there must be proper evidence to prove that hypothesis also.
