solution : voltage gradient of potentiometer = change in potential per unit length of potentiometer

here potential difference, ∆v = 2 volts

length of potentiometer, l = 8 metre

so, potential gradient = 2/8 = 0.25 volt/m

Therefore the potential gradient of the wire of potentiometer is 0.25 v/m.
