Shade the areas annexed by British using Subsidiary Alliance and Doctrine of Lapse policies on an India Political map.

According to the Doctrine of Lapse, any princely area in India would under the direct influence of British East India Company would come directly under the British rule under the subsidiary alliance if the ruler of the area was found to be incompetent or passed away without a male heir to succeed him. The subsidiary alliance was a term used to refer to the alliance formed between the British East India Company and the princely states of India.


Based on the above the areas that were annexed by the British between 1848 and 1855 are:


Surat, Sambalpur, Jaitpur, Jhansi, Nagpur, Tanjore, Arcot and Udaipur.
