shahid was fond of the music of Begum Akhtar's music.Akhtari Bai Faizabadi, otherwise called Begum Akhtar (Mustri Bai) (7 October 1914 – 30 October 1974), was an outstanding Indian vocalist of Ghazal, Dadra, and Thumri kinds of Hindustani traditional music.
She got the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award for vocal music, and was granted Padma Shri and later, Padma Bhushan, after death by Govt. of India. She was given the title of Mallika-e-Ghazal (Queen of Ghazals).
