let age present of rani is x year
ATQ ,
age present of shanti is x+3 years
again ATQ ,
2 (x - 10 )= x +3 - 10
= > 2x - 20 = x - 7
=> x = 13 years
therefore present age shanti is 13 + 3 = 16 years

Answer:

 Shanti's age  = 16 years

 Rani's age  = 13 years

Step-by-step explanation:

Given data

Shanti is 3 years older than Rani

and ten years ago shanti was twice as old as Rani

here we need to find Shanti and Rani's present ages

let x be the age of Rani's age years ago then shantis age is x+3 years

10 years ago shanti was twice as old as Rani

⇒ shanti's age (x+3) = 2x

                              x = 3

⇒   Rani's age x = 3

⇒   Shanti's age = x + 3 = 3 + 3 = 6 years

⇒  the present ages (ages after 10 years)

     Shanti's age  =  6 + 10 = 16 years

      Rani's age    =  3  +10 = 13 years
