let sharmans age be x
his sons age be y

by first condition
x=4y
bye second condition
(x-1)=5(y-1)
4y-1=5y-5
4y-5y=-5+1
-1y=4
so...y=4
x=4y
so...
x=4×4
x=16

mithilarajakumar8: Solved
mithilarajakumar8: Plug in and check with other options only this one will satisfy
mithilarajakumar8: If u want I ll do it in algebraic method
bhatnadu: ok do it
mithilarajakumar8: X=4y, by 2 Nd condition, x-2 = 1+ 5(y-2)
mithilarajakumar8: now sub x in the 2nd equation,
mithilarajakumar8: 4y -2 = 1+ 5y -10
mithilarajakumar8: y= 7 then x= 28
mithilarajakumar8: hope u understand
bhatnadu: thank u

Answer:

7 and 28

Step-by-step explanation:

By plugging in the answers method

Let x be the sharman age

Let y be the son age

1st condition, x= 4y

Put y= 7
