Let son's age be x years.
Therfore, Sharna's age = 2x
After 4 years,
Son's age = (x+4)
Sharna's age= 2x+4
ATQ,
2x+4=4(x+4)
Solve it and you get answer!
Therfore, Sharna's age = 2x

ANSWER FOR YOUR QUESTION IS AS FOLLOW'S:
STEP 1:
Consider Sharna's age as = 'x'
and sharna's sons age as= ' y'
STEP 2:"
As per your question
"Sharna is as twice as old as his son"
so ,
x = 2 y ------------(1) Equation
STEP: 3:
Then it is given as "After 4 years he is four times as old as his son was 9 years ago" , we should find their respective ages now
using equation (1)
considering their age after 4 years ,( taking information from the question we get)
( x + 4 ) = 4 ( y - 9 ) ( as it is said that 9 years ago substract nine from the equation and add 4 to the fathers age)
then is we multiply terms on left we get,
( x + 4 ) = 4 y - 36
2 y + 4 = 4 y - 36 ------( from equation 1)
now bring the numerical to one side and all the variables to other side
36 + 4 = 4 y - 2 y
40 = 2 y ( bring 2 to the denominator now)
we get,
y = 20 -------------so a we assumed before that 'y ' as son's age
hence son's age = 20 years
now fathers age = from equation 1--- x= 2y substitute the values , we get
x= 40 years
hence , x ( sahrna ) = 40
y ( son ) = 20
