Shaurya is provided with three kinds of liquid. One is sodium hydroxide; anotheris
hydrochloric acid and third is a sugar solution. How will he identify them when he
has only blue litmus ?

Explanation: Blue litmus changes to red in an acidic medium. Red litmus will change to blue in the basic medium. Litmus will show no change in sugar solution. Hydrochloric acid (HCl) is an acid. Hence dip the blue litmus onto the liquids. The one that changes to red is HCl. Now dip this same red litmus paper in the other two liquids. The one to change to blue is Sodium hydroxide since it's basic. The remaining one is a sugar solution
