Passive voice: English is taught by her.

Two voices in the English language:

Active voice: When the subject performs any action.

Passive voice: When an action is performed on a subject.

Active Voice                                                 Passive Voice

Subject + V1+s/es+ object   ---->             Object+ is/am/are+V3+by +subject

Subject + Do/does+ not + V1 + Object ---> Object + is/am/are+ not + V3+ by Subject

Does+ Subject+ V1+Object+? ---> Is/am/are + Object+ V3+ by subject +?

She teaches English (change into passive voice)

Here:-

  • “She” is the subject.
  • “Teaches” is the verb.
  • “English” is the direct object.

Here the subject performs any action .

therefore it is in "active voice"

In passive voice the object plays the roll of subject.

Hence it will be :-

English is taught by her , ( passive voice)

  • English becomes subject,
  • She becomes object.
  • The verb is changed( to be+ participle form,)

(Teaches becomes is taught)
