• This was the dream that motivated some devoted Swayamsevaks of the RSS Karyakartas to make educating youngsters their life's work in 1952. The first school was founded in Gorakhpur in a structure that was rented for a monthly rent of five rupees by those involved in the noble goal of nation building via proper education of the younger generation. They gave the name Saraswati Shishu Mandir—a temple of the Goddess Saraswati devoted to the children—to their school after giving it much thought. Their fervour, commitment, and hard work allowed for the establishment of such schools in other locations as well.
