Shivaji was a Maratha King. He is remembers in history for his rebellion against the Mughals, during the rule of Aurengzeb. Aurengzeb imposed taxes on Non-Muslims alone, was very strict on justice and destroyed everyone along his way. The Marathas did not like this and Shivaji started the Guerilla Warfare. The guerilla warfare is a war strategy in which the soldiers attacked their enemies very silently and in the night. This was a huge downfall for Aurengzeb. So he asked Shivaji to meet him in the Red Fort in Delhi. Shivaji felt suspicious but went there anyway. There Aurengzeb insulted him and imprisoned him. But there are three legends on how Shivaji escaped from there. One is that he bribed a soldier and escaped. Second is that he went outside by hiding in a barrel which was leaving from the court to another place. The third is that most trusted minister of Aurengzeb helped Shivaji escape. Which is true is yet not known. But he escaped and rebelled until his death in 1680
