6 Years ago :   (Shobit - 6) = 4*(Pankaj - 6)       .....(2)

From 1 and 2,

shobhit age = (3+ x )years

pankaj age = ( x - 6 ) years

shobhit's age = ( 3 + x - 6 )=( x - 3 ) years

according to the problem given,

shobhit's age = 4 ×pankaj's age

x - 3 = 4(x - 6)

x - 3 = 4x - 24

x - 4x = -24 + 3

-3x = - 21

x = (-21 )/ ( -3 )

x = 7

Therefore,

at present ,

pankaj age = x = 7 years

shobhit's age = 3 + x

= 3 + 7

= 10 years
